Hello and welcome back! Just coming out of Easter break! We had lots of sun and great temperatures and the Simon Says Stamp April Card Kit had arrived just in time for some spring cards. This is my first card kit but definitely not the last. My cards are quite inspired by the gorgeous Yana Smakula, the pretty patterned paper and the stamp set from the kit. So let’s get started!
First I went ahead and stamped (with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto Neenah Solar White card stock) and colored with copics a bunch of leaves and butterflies from the stamp set . The colors I used are:
Leaves: YG03, YG17
Butterflies: RV10, RV11, RV13, Rv14 and Y11, Y19
Then I fuzzy cut all the images (not my thing, but they say there will be dies available soon).
I picked a few of the patterned papers that are included in the kit and started cutting them using my paper trimmer (recently got the Tim Holtz Guillotine and I love it!) and the MFT Stitched Scallop Basic Edges die-namics. After all the cutting was done I just had to assemble my pieces. All the sentiments were stamped with Versafine Onyx Black Ink and all the images were adhered with foam squares.
I also stamped a few additional solid butterflies (also from the set) directly onto the patterned paper or the card base.
As a final step, I went over the butterflies with Wink Of Stella Clear Glitter Pen and added Nuvo White Drops here and there.
For card #3 I used the yellow card stock that was included in the kit as my card base. If you use your patterned paper wisely it will last you for many many cards! And you only need a stripe to ad the feeling of rainbow to the card.
This kit is so packed with goodies that work so well together that it’s so easy to create lots of pretty cards. I will definitely make a few more once I have the time. I really want to use the stencil and the oxide inks and I think that this kit works great for mother’s day as well.
I hope I’ve given you some more ideas on how to use your April card kit.
Have fun and I’ll see you soon!
