Hey there friends! Happy to see you again! I had this idea in my head for quite some time now, to make a background look like a watermelon and then I watched Mindy Baxter’s video on how to add white highlights using a white gel pen. I really recomment watching Mindy’s video here.

For my card I used R20, R22, R24, G20, G21, G24, G28, a bit of YG21 and 0 copic markers.

For my paper I used Fabriano Bristol 145lb.

After the coloring was done, I die cut the piece with the stitched rectangle dies by Simon Says Stamp and added a few white splatters with gouache.

I also die cut the words enjoy and summer out of the same white paper four times and stacked one on top of the other to create one dimensional sentiment.

I adhered the panel onto a standard A2 white card base and accented with a few Nuvo Morning Dew drops.

Doesn’t it shout summer to you?

I really had a great time creating this card for a couple of reasons. First I didn’t use any stamps. I mean, I love my stamps but I really believe you don’t need to spend all your budget on stamps in order to enjoy card making. I think you just have to let yourself loose and use what you have. This background would look just as beautiful with watercolors. And in case you haven’t heard, there is a perfect excuse for you to go ahead and do all kinds of coloring. It’s called The Daily Marker 30 Day coloring challenge. It’s hosted by the amazing Kathy Racoosin and believe me, you’re gonna enjoy it!

So thank you for stopping by today! Take care and I’ll see you soon!
